"MHADA Lottery 2024: Seize Your Chance to Win One of 2,000 Affordable Mumbai Homes!"

Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MHADA, informed HT.com that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will soon launch its next housing lottery, offering 2,000 affordable homes in Mumbai.

Jaiswal stated that out of the 2,000 affordable homes available through the lottery, the majority will be allocated to the lower income group (LIG), mid-income group (MIG), and economically weaker section (EWS).

There will also be a limited number of homes for the higher income group (HIG). Additionally, a few premium 3 BHK apartments in Goregaon will be included in the MHADA Lottery 2024, Jaiswal noted.

"We plan to launch the lottery for Mumbai in September, with the final announcement to be made in the coming days," Jaiswal added.

MHADA officials have stated that the application process for the MHADA Lottery 2024 will be entirely online. Homebuyers can stay updated on lottery-related information by visiting https://housing.mhada.gov.in/

MHADA has also launched a mobile application for applicants to register. Once registration is complete, individuals can apply for the MHADA Lottery 2024 when it becomes available in the coming days.

Price and locations for apartments in MHADA lottery 2024

According to MHADA officials, homes in the EWS category typically start at around 30 lakh, while 3 BHK apartments in the HIG category could exceed 1 crore. The highest prices will be for the 3 BHK apartments in the HIG category.

Sources indicated that while the exact price for the 3 BHK apartments is not yet finalized, it is expected to surpass 1 crore.

Income slabs        

Individuals with a family income of up to ₹6 lakh per year are eligible to apply for a home under the EWS category. Those earning between ₹6 lakh and ₹9 lakh can apply for the LIG category.

Applicants with a family income ranging from ₹9 lakh to ₹12 lakh qualify for the MIG category, while those with a family income exceeding ₹12 lakh per year can apply for the HIG category.

According to officials, for the MHADA lottery, the combined annual income of a husband and wife is considered as the family income. The income of parents or siblings is not included in this calculation.

In the MHADA Lottery 2023, the state housing authority offered 4,082 affordable homes throughout Mumbai. MHADA received over 1 lakh applications for these available homes.
